countdown
![]() jeff and i have visited the beautiful hawaiian islands together a total of 5 times since 2005, and will be embarking on our 6th trip in just a matter of days. i'm more excited about this upcoming trip to the big island and oahu than i can remember being excited for trips in the past. i can't put my finger on exactly what it is, especially considering our last trip to the islands was less than 9 months ago...but there is something. maybe it's because we'll be back on the big island. maybe it's because we are excited to share one of our favorite places in the world with my in-laws. but it's something. when you land in hawaii and walk off the plane, there is nothing quite like the way you feel when you hit that warm, humid wall of air. it's like your mind really grasps the fact that you are somewhere special and can let all the cares of day-to-day life on the mainland just stay there for a period of time. ahhh... i can practically hear the breeze flowing through the palm trees already... camilles (9:28pm, 5.19.10)
where have we been?
![]() the real question is, where HAVEN'T we been? and where AREN'T we headed? we spent a nice long weekend at the end of april visiting our buddy ben up at his temporary home in seattle. while we were there, we also made it out to hadlock and port townsend to see a few of our other friens. it was a great trip, and i took lots of photos. two weeks after that, we spent a weekend just north of sacramento for the 24 hours of lemons race. the guys came in 6th place out of 108 cars and took home the "awesome e30 award" for their bmw-turned-christine. they ended up all over jalopnik, and are very proud of what they accomplished. it's not every day that someone suggests that their creation is perhaps the greatest bmw e30 ever! i also took lots of photos, but haven't gotten around to posting them anywhere. next on the agenda...hawaii with the in-laws. then jeff is off to alaska with ben. then i'm headed to baja for another race car driving adventure. someone suggested the other day that we lead a very charmed life. i don't know how much luck has to do with any of it, but i feel very blessed to be in the position we are in. we've made a lot of careful decisions about a lot of different things in order to do the things we do, and try to make the most of everything we have. it's a good life. camilles (10:38pm, 5.18.10)
