s w e e t s u p r i s e !

to say i was tickled to find this cute orange shirt and a sweet note waiting for me in the mailbox yesterday would be an understatement. to receive a gift from the queen hedgie herself was quite an honor. it made her think of me, and now everytime i see it, i will think of her. isn't it cool the way life goes?

my sweeto is on the other side of the world again, slaying dragons in order to provide for us at home. he really is my hero.

i'm keeping things together on the homefront. tonight i cleaned and vacuumed in anticipation of some people coming by to take a look at our place tomorrow afternoon. i'm also in the middle of doing a bunch of laundry.

lots of people have mentioned the fact that it is Lent. i gave up blue cheese and artichokes again, but this year i decided to try to better myself in my daily life. for weeks i had gotten extremely lazy, so i am making a point to make the most of my evenings after work. not quite exercising or anything, but i'm trying not to sit around like a lump and procrastinate on things i probably would be better off doing. which is why i'm doing 3 loads of laundry tonight...AND putting it all away. (well, one load may just have to stay in the dryer until i can get to it tomorrow.)

this morning i woke up 5 minutes after i was supposed to have left for work. when i called my boss in a panic and told him i had turned off my alarm clock by accident, he said "i do that every morning, but on purpose!" he's a joker, even at 7 in the morning. so it was no big deal rolling into work a few minutes late, although i was a little embarrassed.

we attended the annual lebowski fest west over the weekend, and had QUITE the time. it was the first west fest without the parent-in-laws, which may have been why things got as crazy as they did. but it was an absolute blast. just a few casualties.

the average person probably wouldn't understand why we dressed up as a softball team, but the true lebowski fans got it, and it earned us 2nd place in the costume contest! you probably wouldn't recall, but we won 3rd place last year. we are also particularly proud of the fact that the guy who won 1st place for dressing as larry seller's homework in the plastic baggie was in OUR group. and the guy who one 3rd place this year for dressing up as the "real" dude was somebody we met last year and thought was cool. so it was a good lineup of winners.
