it's been about 10 years since i had my hair colored in a salon.
we'll see how it goes over at work tomorrow. i don't think it's too wild, and i'm guessing it will probably go mostly unnoticed, at least for a little while.
but it was time to do something a little different.

it's been over a month since our super-duper bargain trip to oahu, but i was already ready to go back the very next week. for just a 4-day trip, we packed a lot of action into our every waking moment.
ben, e-ming, jeff and i saw all we could see and ate all we could possibly eat before taking red-eye flights back home.
just a few of my favorite moments before i leave you with a few photos and commentary:
within half an hour of checking into our hotel, we were floating in the ocean off waikiki beach and i said if i had to get on the plane back right now, just this moment is worth the entire vacation.
mai tais at the international marketplace
finding the greatest tiki restaurant on the face of the earth
mai tais at the mai tai bar
jeff ordering a mai tai so he could get a tiki mug at the hotel restaurant, and being allowed to have actual booze because he ordered orange juice with his welcome breakfast special, and us gleefully taking in the icy stares of the people a few tables over because they weren't allowed to order cocktails so early in the morning.
watching the battle of the breakfast place spokespeople as we ate our $3.99 breakfast in one and not the other
romy's shrimp shack for lots of orders of prawns and shrimp
shave ice at aoki's with the chilled syrup
mai tais at the hotel restaurant bar watching the parade of undesirables stroll by
riding mopeds to chinatown for roast duck, roast pork, and bbq pork, and then riding to find da kine bail bonds, and then riding almost as far as we could legally go to a beach where a japanese lady was taking her wedding photos.
all these photos are courtesy of e-ming, who so diligently recorded all of our activities:
i almost blacked out on the hike to this somewhat secluded waterfall for swimming and jumping, but it was well worth it. see where the girl is sunning herself? she's the lowest person in the photo...
i jumped from about right in front of her! not so impressive considering e-ming jumped from a spot about 4 times as high from a tiny ledge way up the cliff the right of where i'm about to hit the water. but fun. and on the hike back, we got lost and made a complete circle. fortunately we saw some people from the falls that we thought were going the wrong way...until we realized WE were going the wrong way. :)
we snorkeled all over the place, but the best was at shark's cove. we saw so many fish and even a turtle swimming around in the waves. jeff got very sunburned, but it was all worth it.
we waded out to goat island. is that not a beautiful private beach and mini bay? this picture is my desktop at work. that's jeff at the left, ben in the middle just into the sand, and me wading around in the clear blue water at the right. e-ming took this picture from a rocky point. we enjoyed our little visit to the island. it's worth mentioning that on the way back, i got tangled in a portuguese man'o'war and it didn't feel very good. it burned like crazy and i was kind of scared! jeff rescued me by pulling the tentacles off with is bare hands. ben was kind of far ahead of us, and when he heard me start screeching, managed to make it to shore very quickly. e-ming ended up picking the rest of a tentacle off my arm with a stick once we got to the shower. there are photos of the welts that reappeared after a week on my camera somewhere...but i don't know where my camera is.
kahlua pig pizza and beer with the gang. ben had been daydreaming about it for months, so we were happy to get a taste of what he was craving. mmm. now that i think about it, i'm kind of craving it again.
so that's it for the little hawaii slideshow. we had an excellent time, and the company was the best. i can't wait to have a chance to go out there again.
in other, unrelated news for you ladies out there, if you have never tried out the offerings at gap body, i strongly suggest you check it out. after hitting a bunch of the usual places looking for underthings and being disappointed for 2 months now, thanks to a good recommendation from leanne, i went yesterday and left with 3 new bras and 5 new pairs of undies. the best part? they all fit great, are all comfortable, didn't cost an arm and a leg, and don't have a bunch of silly lace or wild colors all over them. yay!
and in other, other unrelated news...i sure do like captain jack sparrow. as i mentioned in my xanga journal, if for some reason i had never met the love of my life, i wouldn't mind him, even with the gold teeth and black eye shadow.
